A Heroes’ welcome from the Oscars

Director Samir Karnik is over the moon after he got an Oscars invite for a copy of the screenplay of Heroes for its archives. Karnik received the letter from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, informally known as the Oscars, late last week. An elated Karnik said, "I'm sending them the script right away. I can't believe that the Oscars archives has invited our screenplay. Maybe because it is an original screenplay; that's why they invited it. “The scripts in the Oscars collection are made accessible for research purposes to student filmmakers, writers and actors”.

Samir's on cloud nine

Filmmaker Samir Karnik is over the moon seeing how his Yamla Pagla Deewana has been received by the audiences and critics alike. The film that opened to thundering response across many cities is on course of making some good moolah for the producers Samir (Top Angle Production) and Nitin Manmohan (One Up Entertainment). "I was confient that we have a very good story in our hand and we also had a winning formula of Dharmendra , Sunny and Bobby Deol in our film but the biggest challenge was to translate the story into the film.

He is called Uncle. His name is Raj Chauhan but you will never hear his name in the film. He senses a situation and always says 'Come on Charlie.' As soon as he says that, everything falls in place. He is there to ease the tension in the film.

Bobby stands by his friend Samir Karnik

Although it has been reported that Sunny Deol has had a spat with his Yamla Pagla Deewana director Samir Karnik , Bobby Deol is standing by his friend's side. "Samir and I go back a long way and people are just talking all this because we have been doing some good work. I can tell you that nothing is wrong between me and him, and I will always be with him no matter what. I'm sure we will work together soon too.
